This four-story row house at 1512 P St NW is a Victorian showpiece. The decorative wrought iron handrails, contrasting black door, and the window trim contrast nicely with the relatively subdued pressed brick grey façade. Inside, there’s an array of fanciful and historic elements that lend unexpected visual interest to walls and ceilings.

Built in 1885, the 3600-square-foot home includes four bedrooms; three full and one-half baths; and seven fireplaces (five working) with vintage carved wood mantels, tile surrounds, and pressed tin hearths.

It also features original stained-glass windows, millwork, stairs/bannister, oak flooring, and a private au-pair suite with its own entrance.

There’s a spacious wood deck at the back of the house, which sits over a covered one-car garage. There are also two adjacent parking spaces in the rear alley.

It will be offered at $2,199,900 when it officially goes on the market on September 12.

A marble-tiled vestibule opens into a long gallery foyer that faces the main stairway and an elegant half bath at the end of the hall. There is a formal living/sitting room to the right, which is anchored by two angled side-by-side fireplaces.

A bay window with oversized leaded and stained-glass panels overlooks the street and high on the opposite wall. Another period-faithful detail is the status-worthy fuse box, prominently placed and surrounded by picture-frame molding. This signals that the home moved into the modern electricity era.

Furthermore, there’s a gourmet kitchen, spacious dining area, and a wood-burning fireplace.

The light taupe furniture-quality cabinets and moveable dark wood island feature quartz countertops.

Appliances, all JennAir, include an integrated French door refrigerator, dishwasher, oven, six-burner range, and a warming hood. Two sets of French doors lead to the side and rear deck.

Moreover, there is a library on the second floor, which is the seller’s favorite room in the house. This library is lined with bookcases, and the oversized windows provide tons of light. Those windows also have original trim and shutters.

The master suite — which is across the hall — features a south-facing bedroom with deep closets, a wood-manteled fireplace, and Art Deco pendant lights. There’s also an en-suite bathroom with two separate Waterworks sinks, a frameless glass shower, and Kohler fixtures.

Furthermore, the alcove, nestled between the library and bedroom, holds a large linen closet. This area includes attractive built-ins and a laundry room with a Samsung washer and dryer.

A private guest suite is on the third floor. The bedroom opens onto a covered balcony (the only one of its kind on the street). It features built-in, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and a fireplace with a white wood mantel and tile surround.

The en-suite bath includes two sinks, a bath/shower combo, and an appealing sea green ceramic tile floor.

The lower level is an exceptionally bright space with plenty of storage and eight-foot ceilings. It is currently configured as an office with a separate bedroom, family room, and a non-working fireplace.

The full bath has an industrial textured metal tile floor, marble tiled shower, and single Kohler sink.

Located in the heart of Logan Circle, DC’s fifth- most walkable neighborhood, the home is steps away from the Studio Theatre, Whole Foods, and the retailers and restaurants on hip and happening 14th Street. The Yellow and Green ines serve this area, and there are three Capital Bikeshare stations.

The Victorian row house at 1512 P St NW is listed for $2,199,900 with CondoNest/McWilliams/Ballard, Inc. and will be available as of Sept 12. For details, call David Blaha at (202) 716-9640 or [email protected]. For a visual tour, visit here.
